ABOUT ME

A few years ago, while I was studying at Herefordshire College of Art and Design, I daubed acrylic, smoothed on pastels, crumbled charcoal and gouged and stamped lino prints endlessly. There was always one medium that I always returned to however. Watercolour and ink, with which I developed my illustrative style, although at the time I had no idea in which direction it would eventually lead me!

Skip forwards to more recent times, settled happily in Shoreham (add one husband, two children and a cat) and some friends were moving away to a new town. Close companions for nearly a year, our daughters had swimming lessons together and we would all meet regularly at each others houses, or our favourite haunt, the beach.

For weeks after they told us they were leaving the sunny South Coast for London I would get flashes of an image in my mind. A picture of a seagull, standing on the iconic pebbles of a South Coast beach. I was going to create a reminder of living by the sea for their daughter Lucy.

From a photo on my mobile phone I shared the painting with friends on social networking sites and within half an hour I had received four commissions! My career as an Artist had begun!

Since the original Seagull my inspiration always comes back to the sea and it's ever changing and often dramatic scenery. My recent collection, all currently displayed in Shoreham Gallery on Brunswick Road are Shoreham Beach scenes all depicting the stories of people enjoying time by the sea.

I now work all hours from my perfectly designed, top of the range studio...... actually it's my kitchen table and painting is scheduled around mealtimes and naps, but it suits me perfectly!

The image of me is a typical evening for me, spent working at my kitchen table with my youngest daughter, then aged about three months, fast asleep in the sling!
